In light of the ongoing hurricane reconstruction and recent earthquake activity in Puerto Rico, please join this Virtual Forum for the Social Science Extreme Events Research (SSEER) network. We hope you will take part in this forum if you are:
- a locally-affected SSEER researcher in Puerto Rico
- an SSEER researcher who has been conducting research following Hurricane Maria or other recent disasters in Puerto Rico
- an SSEER or non-SSEER member interested in learning more about the early effects and social impacts of the Puerto Rico earthquake sequence
- a researcher considering launching a post-event investigation or joining a field team in Puerto Rico
This forum will provide an opportunity for SSEER researchers to share information and resources and to identify pressing areas for ethical coordination and social scientific investigation.
The SSEER network has funding to support social science field research teams. Our ethical commitment, however, is to fund investigations that are driven by careful consultation with locally-affected researchers and government officials. Identifying emergent research questions and whether there is a need for additional social science support will be a topic of conversation during the Virtual Forum.
We will record this online meeting and post written updates, questions, and comments on this page. If you have questions, please contact us at SSEER@colorado.edu. You are also encouraged to join the SSEER Slack Channel.
Our thoughts are with all the people of Puerto Rico.
